Are You Ready To Let Some Shit Go: A Guided Tree Meditation

In nature, trees stand as remarkable symbols of strength, resilience, and transformation. Their powerful roots dig deep into the earth, grounding them while simultaneously drawing nourishment from their surroundings. As we navigate the complexities of life, it’s vital to adopt similar qualities for our emotional and spiritual well-being.

In our journey towards healing and self-discovery, the metaphor of the tree presents a profound foundation. Just as a tree withstands storms and seasons, our ability to embrace change and let go of burdens allows us to flourish. By cultivating a strong sense of self, we can nurture our growth and ward off the distractions and energies that seek to weigh us down.

This blog post invites you to explore the powerful connection between your inner landscape and the symbolism of the tree. We will embark on a guided meditation that encourages you to ground yourself, let some shit go, and rediscover the vibrant life within you. Just as a tree may shed its leaves in preparation for new growth, you too can undergo a transformative process that leads you toward clarity, peace, and renewed purpose.

Join me as we delve into the journey of letting some shit go, using the tree as our guiding symbol to remind us that through deep roots and expansive branches, we can navigate life’s challenges and emerge even stronger. But first.

Self-Assessment: Letting Shit Go and Awareness Inventory

Before we begin our meditation, take some time to reflect on the following questions. This self-assessment tool is designed to help you explore what you might be holding onto unconsciously. Take your time with each question and consider journaling your responses if you feel compelled.

  1. What emotional burdens have I been carrying?

  • List any feelings that feel heavy or unresolved.

  1. Whose energy do I feel is contributing to my emotional luggage?

  • Reflect on the roots of these burdens.

  1. What memories or experiences do I find difficult to let go of?

  • Describe specific instances that come to mind.

  1. What physical sensations do I associate with these emotions?

  • Pay attention to areas of tension or discomfort in your body.

  1. What items in my metaphorical luggage no longer serve me?

  • Identify negative thoughts, beliefs, or relationships.

  1. How do these items impact my current life and well-being?

  • Reflect on how holding onto this baggage affects you now.

  1. What steps can I take to begin releasing these burdens?

  • Consider practical actions or mental shifts you can make.

  1. How can I practice self-forgiveness?

  • Write down affirmations or intentions for self-compassion.

  1. What small actions can I take today to lighten my load?

  • List daily practices that promote emotional and spiritual wellness.

Engaging with this self-assessment can help illuminate aspects of your life that require healing and transformation. Remember, awareness and intention are the first steps toward liberation.

Welcome In Your Sacred Space

Before we begin, find a comfortable place to sit or lay down where you feel safe and can be with yourself—free from all distractions. Make sure you are free from distractions and that the ambience in this sacred space is supporting your sensory to get quiet and journey within. Get comfortable and allow this moment to be solely yours. This is a great exercise to do outside in nature.

Breath Awareness

As you begin to settle in, notice how you are breathing. When you feel ready, begin breathing through your nose. Allow the air to travel deep into your chest, expanding and connecting to the very center of your being as you begin to find your rhythm. As you breathe in each inhalation, allow yourself to awaken a connection to a place that inspires your imagination to arise. Spend a few moments here as you sink deeper into this rich warm place.

Imagining Your Tree

Now, conjure in your mind's eye an image of your most favorite tree—majestic and grand. Notice the entirety of this tree, the time of day and season it is and if you are with the sun or the moon in your landscape. Begin to observe your trees roots that are firmly anchored into the earth. As you visualize your special tree, allow yourself to feel your own feet becoming grounded and connected to the earth, just like the roots of the tree. Let this grounded feeling support you in your journey to release what no longer serves you. Sink deeper into this sanctuary of Mother Earth as you anchor and connect with its core, feeling nourished by her breath of life. Notice any energy or warmth in your legs and feet, securing you to this source of grounding. Do you feel the tingling sensation in your feet already?

Becoming the Tree

Feel your connection by drawing strength up from your roots through the trunk of the tree. As you breathe in, allow your roots to absorb the nutrients from the soil of this experience, helping you to grow and flourish. On your next breath imagine the flow your branches that are the experiences and opportunities extending outward, as they sway gently. As you breathe again, notice your Leaves on the branches that are the thoughts and feelings that emerge as we grow. They are nourished by the sunlight or the moonlight of our awareness into our experiences, with the understanding that they are temporary.

Inviting Guidance

Call upon your Higher Self, Guardian Angels, Spirit Guides, or any protective and guiding energies as companions along your way. This will offer you comfort, profound love and safety as you begin to transcend into the depths of your entire tree in your visualization.

Identifying Your Baggage

Each of us carries personal luggage and inherited baggage; some of it may feel heavy and burdensome, limiting our ability to be flexible and forgiving. As you begin to explore your luggage during your breaths, recognizing what it consists of and whose energy it truly belongs to. With every exhale, imagine it traveling up the trunk of your tree, extending to the branches and through the leaves, releasing outward into the sky as the sun or moon absorbs the energetic ties that no longer serve you.

Observing the Luggage of Life

From a place of observation (treetop), begin to notice it without judgment. What does your luggage look? How heavy is it? Notice the feelings in its shape, colors, textures, and any details that stand out. How does this visual representation make you feel? Reflect on any changes in your breath as you allow yourself to stay present with these sensations and adjust your breath accordingly. Breathe in the nose and release out from the mouth any tension that may arise in this observation.

The Contents of Your Luggage

When you are ready, become an observer of what exists inside your luggage and explore its contents from a distance. What do you find? Who do they belong to? How long have they been there for? Remember, you are not reliving any experiences; you are simply observing from your treetop. With every exhale when needed, imagine your thoughts and feelings of these leaves on the branches becoming transformed and released as you let that shit go.

Reflecting on Your Feelings

From a place of observation and breath, notice any inner feelings that arise. How are they connected to your experiences with the contents of your luggage? Imagine the element of air creating wind around your tree as a way to loosen up the invisible cords that have held onto the feelings that are no longer serving you, and let the wind break them free. Feel yourself rooted into the core of Mother Earth as you flow and move with the wind, releasing them away from the branches of your tree.

Cleansing and Restoring

With your next inhale and exhale, begin to imagine droplets of water coming down from the sky. Open your leaves to its purification as it begins to wash the toxins away, and nourish your tree outside in. Feel the cleanse of your mind, body, spirit and soul as you release what is no longer serving you. On your next inhalation, imagine all the colors of the rainbow encapsulating your tree, filling all the facets and chambers you have just cleared with its majestic light. Feel its light beam move through your leaves, into the branches, down the truck of your tree and into its roots, nourishing your earth of deep connection.

Closing the Meditation

As you make your way back to the present moment, take time to feel again your own feet, legs, body, arms, hands and fingers. Imagine from head to toe a radiant white light surrounding you in a bubble of amplifying light, purifying and releasing you from this journey. Take time to honor this by closing your eyes and thanking yourself and the guides who accompanied you on this trek. Wrap your arms around your self and squeeze in self love, grace and compassion.

May you always find your tree along the path of life.
